BIO

Sigurd works as a composer in Bergen, Norway. He was born 1976 in Bergen and studied composition at the Grieg Academy with Morten Eide Pedersen and Hochschule fur Musik, Freiburg with prof. Mathias Spahlinger. 

His music has been performed by ensembles such as Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, KORK, ICE Ensemble, BIT20 Ensemble, Bozzini Quartet, Ensemble Risognanze et al.

The piece Three lamento movements for trumpet and piano was recorded at Lawo Music. It contains works by Sigurd Fischer Olsen, Knut Vaage, Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen, Ketil Hvoslef, Bjørn Bolstad Skjelbred and Eilert Tøsse. Performed by Erlend Aagaard-Nilsen and Jarle Rotevatn. The piece Meditasjon for Hammerklaver was recorded by Knut Chr Janson 2023 together with pieces by L.van Beethoven and Knut Vaage.

Together with Lena Buchacz and Roar Sletteland artistic leader of Ursus Produksjoner. Performances include staging the opera Lohengrin by Salvatore Sciarrino, and Tycho Brahe written by Ursus Produksjoner. The trilogy Liminal Face (2018 - 19) included Oppnedpassasjen, an opera for children, the full-scale opera Tzaie! and the interactive installation Lenin in the sky with diamonds. In 2023 they premiered the new opera The Indian Queen by Henry Purcell in BIT Teatergarasjen Bergen
